I even took Procrastination 101

Procrastination is a wonderful thing. I excel at it.

A few weeks ago Small Footprints had a special series, a week long event covering the ‘green’ printed word.

Based on the book Born of Blood by S.B. Knight the week dealt with aspects of publishing and printing, producing some surprising facts.

I followed the posts and participated in the promotion, and surprised myself by winning a copy of the book. I am not one to win things; most of what I have in life is hard graft.

I duly received the book in .pdf form, because I don’t have fancy kindles and things, and Brian went out of his way and organised my copy.

I began reading it upon receipt.

It is the first novel that I have read on the screen, and I must say, I missed the feel of paper. Such is progress, which any regular reader/visitor will know that I am not particularly fond of.

But the book, yes it is a vampire story, but not in the same ilk as the lycanthropic adventures of Bram Stoker’s 1896 Count Dracula. Which, I might add, that while the book/theme is very popular, it is not popular in Romania as the character debased an important  historical character from Romania’s past, one Vlad Tepes, better known as Vlad the Impaler.

The story Born of Blood was different, with trips back into history and the modern day setting. A mystery that was not satisfactorily resolved leaving the way open for a follow up.

While I enjoyed the theme, I felt that some of the gory details, were a little too gory. I am a fan of the genre, but not a fan of gratuitous horror; there is enough of that, in my opinion,  in the real world.

Having procrastinated in a right royal fashion, befitting my studies, in that I never really posted and thanked Brian for sending my prize, nor did I follow up, as promised, with my thoughts on the book.

If you like vampire stories, you’ll love this one, I look forward to the sequel.
