Nature Ramble

Off to South America and the driest desert in the world.

San Pedro de Atacama

Covers the north of Chile, the northwest of Argentina, the south of Peru and southwest of Bolivia.

San Pedro de Atacama

From the sea to straddle the Andes.

So what kind of flora and fauna does one expect to find in such a harsh climate?

In the middle of the desert is the town of San Pedro de Atacama with about 2,000 inhabitants. It is a hub for tourism in the area, with people coming from and going to Bolivia via the Salar de Uyuni.

It has some good accommodations, up to three star and a good museum.

Surrounding the town there are many attractions, Valle de Luna, geothermal areas, and surrounded by volcanoes in the Andes.

The animals…
