A new banner for Monday Moaning…
Now let’s get down to business.
There’s always something to moan about.
When we think of chips (French fries for our American cousins) we probably image that there is not much that can go wrong, other than they are fried in oil or lard, which they say can be a weight issue.
But wait…
Check this out. There’s more to chips than just chips.
Shocking Ingredients in McDonald’s French Fries
It would be fair to assume that there are three ingredients in McDonald’s French fries: potatoes, oil, and salt. But if you assumed that you’d be far from correct.
Starting last year McDonald’s began a transparency campaign most likely to create a more health- and consumer-conscious image of the corporation. As a result the company has made their ingredient lists and processing techniques available on their website. Out of curiosity, I had to know exactly what is in those fries.
It turns out that there are 17 ingredients in MickeyD’s French fries! They contain:
-Potatoes (whew! I’m glad that was the first ingredient)

Yes, McD’s actually do have potato in their chips. But what else, what are the other 16 ingredients involved?
Here’s some of them:
- Canola oil
- Hydrogenated soybean oil
- Safflower oil
- ”Natural flavor”
- Dextrose
- Sodium acid pyrophosphate
- Citric acid
- Dimethylpolysiloxane
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Terbutilhidroquinona
If you want to see what each of these does, and how they affect you, check the source link Care2 above.
Still lovin’ it?
