Usually vitriolic, at times bellicose; I'm not here to be nice
Each Friday, something to think about
A walk on the natural side each Sunday (or Monday...)
The Apothecary - A place to find natural products and remedies
So how have we gotten so far off course? When the label of ‘green’ was introduced, it was seen as a mission statement; something that would entitle the customer to some sense of comfort that they product they were supporting (which was usually more expensive) was working with the Earth’s best interests at heart. Instead we have simply completed a full consumerist revolution; the label has been taken, assigned a cultural identity and used to sell a piece of a lifestyle that is intended to speak more to your peers than to subsidize an environmental commitment.

These are fantastic. I particularly love the bicycle wash basin. I’m not so sure about using books for shelving and benches though. What if you want to read them?

>Rachel, they are great ideas. As for the books, I imagine they are either read or from the opshop.

I wondered whether they’re religious book as no need to read those 🙂

The bike sink is amazing. every time I see it I picture the amount of dusting I would end up doing around those spokes. 🙂 The library counter from books is fantastic. Just think of all the books that they have to retire because they are falling apart beyond the point of being repairable, what a great use for them.

>lsf, dusting would be a problem. But old and dilapidated books, is a ggod idea; although I would have the spines showing outward, and then lacquered.

I agree with you on the spines. Personally I would love to wait at a library counter while I read the spines, and the older the book the more lovely they are.

Oh yes, they would have to be real books and not paperbacks.
